The Fall of Heaven

‘How can I dance to these drums while my son is wailing in fire?’  Bilba wondered to himself.

‘To me, it is unnatural to do so,’ Konsa said. ‘It is not just a case of Nero fiddling while Rome burned or chasing rats while one’s house is on fire; it is a case of laughing while sitting on thorns.’

‘The fire burning my son has melted my legs and hands,’ Bilba said. ‘I am without legs and hands to dance and clap.’
