Evans Brothers publishing company, with its head office in Ibadan and offices across Nigeria, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:

  1. ACCOUNTANT

Age requirement: 30-40 years

Role Summary

The successful candidate will coordinate the company’s accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, support effective financial control, and ensure compliance with applicable standards, laws, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate accounting functions and prepare monthly accounts, including the trial balance, statement of comprehensive income, and statement of financial position.
  • Record and reconcile financial transactions, including sales, receipts, purchases, and payments.
  • Supervise bank reconciliations and the preparation of monthly journal entries.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Coordinate the annual stocktaking exercise.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and company policies.
  • Administer royalty accounts and related records.
  • Support audits and maintain effective internal controls.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree/Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines.
  • Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.

  • Strong attention to detail, and proper self organisation.
  • Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
